Use HEX Values in Pigment

Want to use a specific color you found online or match a color exactly? Pigment lets you enter HEX color values so you can color with the precise shade you have in mind. There are two places you can do this from within the coloring editor.

You can access HEX Value Input from either the color wheel (1) or the palette section (2).

1. From the Color Wheel

  1. Open a coloring page in the editor.
  2. Tap the color wheel icon in the bottom right corner.
  3. Tap the # symbol.
  4. You'll see the HEX value of whichever color is currently selected on the color wheel. You can also clear this field and type in a new HEX value to switch to that exact color.

Tip: Copy and Paste HEX Values

You can also copy and paste HEX values directly into the HEX field. This is especially handy if you've found a color online or in another app — just copy the HEX code, tap the # in Pigment, and paste it in.

What is a HEX Value?

A HEX value is a six-character code (made up of numbers and letters) that represents a specific color. For example, #FF5733 is a warm red-orange and #4A90D9 is a medium blue. You'll often see HEX values on design websites, color palette generators, and social media posts that share color schemes.

This is a great way to match colors from a reference image, follow along with a tutorial, or recreate a color palette you love.
