Followers and Likes in the Pigment Gallery
It’s far too easy to think of having lots of followers and likes as some sort of popularity contest or like leveling up in a game as your numbers grow. The truth is, in the Pigment Gallery, we prefer thinking of the Follower Feature and Like Button as tools for building relationships. This means that how and why you gain followers is more important than your actual number count.
If you’d like to gain more followers, your best strategy is to be your awesome self—let people follow and like your posts because they like your art and respect you. This can take more time than asking everyone to like your posts or to follow you, but instead of meaningless numbers, you’ll gain quality relationships with people who actually admire you and your artwork. We think that’s worth it!
If people follow you, let it be because they like your work and want to see more. Let it be because you are friendly, respectful, and supportive and they want to stay in touch with you. Let it be because you are helpful and share your knowledge or designs. Let it be because you regularly post and interact positively with others. Let it it be because the Gallery is better off with you there.
The core values of the Pigment Gallery are: kindness, creativity, and community. Gaining followers and likes because you exude these values is how you WIN at Pigment.
Following Others in the Gallery and Liking Posts
The Follow Feature allows you to keep track of your favorite Pigmenteers and allows you to know that someone wants to see when you post something new. The Like Button let’s people know that their artwork is admired and is a way to encourage others to keep creating.
Follow people and give posts a like because:
- You love their artwork or designs
- Their work inspires you
- They use techniques you admire and want to learn
- They are new in the Gallery and you want to be supportive
- They are friendly and encouraging to you
- They have similar interests/use similar themes in their work
Following Gallery and Activity Log
The Following Gallery is the area in your app where you can see posts by only the people you’ve chosen to follow. You can also check out your Activity Log to see comments, likes, followers, and when you’ve been mentioned.
